Afternoon Classes: Are you concerned about naptime?

Are you thinking about joining one of our afternoon classes but have concerns about how it will effect your toddler's nap? We find this question comes up in our 11:30-1:30pm classes. Our instructors carefully design the schedule to meet the needs of as many families as possible. Here are some helpful strategies from other parents on how they find an afternoon class totally doable for their families.

I was concerned at first about the afternoon time frame because our family is big on routine, nap times, etc. We went for it anyways since it’s just one day a week and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my son adapted. There are so many activities to do, new and different toys to play with and kids to watch that it keeps my son busy, leaving him no time to think about being tired and/or cranky - and on the plus side, he usually takes a really great nap afterwards!

My daughter naps at 1pm every day but on the days we have Toddler Group that gets pushed out a little farther and she usually ends up napping on the way home or will go to sleep once we arrive home. It’s only one day a week and it doesn’t seem to affect her too much.

This is our second year in an afternoon class. When my daughter was in Wobblers last year we would sometimes leave early for class so she could catch a quick snooze in the car on the way. Now that she’s older I find that pushing her nap back an hour or more once a week doesn’t affect her too much. We usually do a shorter nap once we get home that day. The experiences we both gain from WTG are more than worth pushing nap once a week.

We hope you'll decide to join us in one of our afternoon classes!
