Our Teachers
The instructors are responsible for weekly parent education, creating and implementing the weekly curriculum, purchasing supplies, attending board meetings and overseeing the overall operation of WTG. Although the instructors provide leadership and information, you as parents are the real teachers of your child!
Each teacher has a Bachelor and Master's Degree and are employed by Lake Washington Institute of Technology. Both have been parents in toddler co-op programs and bring real-life experiences to the classroom.
Amy Flinn
Amy has a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State. She taught preschool for 4 years in Louisiana before moving home to Seattle shortly before the birth of her oldest son.
Amy is an alumnus and former board member of WTG. She attended for one year with her middle son, and three years with her youngest. She was a class coordinator for 3 years, before transitioning to the instructor role. 2024-25 will be her 7th year teaching at WTG.
Amy lives in Woodinville with her husband Matt, and her three boys. Drew is 18, Luke is 16, and Sam is 9. In her free time (ha!) she enjoys sports and reading.
Melanie Carpenter
Melanie has a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California, Los Angeles and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. She holds a teaching credential in Early Childhood Special Education. Before joining Woodinville Toddler Group, Melanie worked as an early childhood education specialist teaching preschool in California and owned a business providing family coaching services and child education for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is passionate about supporting families and creating a fun learning environment for all children.
Melanie has two young children who constantly teach her that parenting is a journey, not a destination. She enjoys camping, gardening, spending time with her family, and discovering all the beauty of Washington.
